Too many clothes but no outfits, an overlooked wardrobe, a lifestyle change? There are many times in our lives when we need a little (or an entire) wardrobe refresh. Launched in November 2020 during a global pandemic and UK lockdown, ByElleven are a new brand inspired by streetwear. The Monthly Mash Up - Whose outfits have caught our eye this month?

Welcome to a brand new monthly episode I am calling The Monthly Mash-Up. Each month, I will be discussing what's been going on in the world and who has been wearing what. This month (September) I am joined by fellow London stylists Sarah from Sartoria Lab and Sally from Queen Bee Styling. Our gaze this month is on The Duchess of Sussex and Carrie Johnson who have both had a lot of flak in the media this month for their outfit choices. We also pay our respects to Queen Elizabeth II and how she used colour very cleverly in her outfits and was never without her signature handbag. As well as all that we are discussing why clothes matter and getting into the minds of those who think it's frivolous and unimportant.

Thoughts on the messages your clothes send

"Dress Shabbily and they remember the dress, dress impeccably and they notice the woman" Coco Chanel. Sage advice from the doyenne of style. Your clothes speak, they are part of your message and they can be used to your advantage. Are you someone who blends in but wishes you were braver, or someone who stands out unapologetically? Too often women blend in when they shouldn't but sometimes it is appropriate and can be a clever tactic. This week I'm giving my thoughts on this using Carrie Johnson and the new UK PM Liz Truss as examples. One of them blended in cleverly and the other stood out in a power move. Which was right or were both? This episode will get you thinking differently about your wardrobe and the messages it sends.

How fashion just gets better as you get older - with Hannah Pearn

I am joined this week by fashion lover Hannah Pearn. Like me, Hannah doesn't believe in being invisible as you get older. Quite the opposite in fact, we are both finding that as you get older you know yourself better, care less about what others think and feel more confident exploring style. We both agree that fashion is self care ad brings a lot of joy to life! As well as loving clothes, Hannah is also an acupuncturist specialising in fertility and she is sharing her entrepreneurial story from when she trained 10 years ago to enjoying huge success in her business right through lockdown. Yes, lockdown and the pandemic has quite a few business success stories and it's nice to know it wasn't all doo and gloom. Acupuncture can benefit women's health from fertility through to menopause - it's fascinating stuff!
